Feeling stuck on an endless merry-go-round and wondering what’s next?

(Perhaps you’re experiencing)

  • Feelings of sadness, worry or frustration
  • The heartbreak of infidelity or betrayal
  • Intense loneliness or anger
  • Not being able to “get through” to your spouse, partner or child
  • Less passion, less closeness, fewer real conversations
  • Stress that doesn’t seem to end

Most people who call Cindy have already tried to fix it on their own. Therapy gives you a new way in, with practical feedback from someone who has seen it before.

“As a guy, I was hesitant to pick up the phone and call a therapist. Cindy helped me realize I was “falling down on the job” as a husband and father and it was time to develop some new habits. My wife and I wouldn’t be together now without her assistance.”

Your Omaha couples therapist

Cindy Ridgway, LMHP

For nearly three decades, Cindy has been the therapist Omaha couples call when things feel past fixing: the affair that came out, the fight that never ends, the marriage that drifted into roommates. She also helps engaged couples start on the right foot, and adults carrying anxiety, depression or stress on their own.

Her style is direct and down-to-earth, with a light dose of humor. She draws on humanistic therapy, Gottman principles, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), CBT and mindfulness, and she tailors every plan. No cookie-cutter therapy, and no crowded waiting room.

“When I first saw Cindy, my girl had packed my things up and put them on the front porch. Needless to say, I was not in a good place. Cindy helped my girlfriend and I stop bickering and patch up the mess I’d made of things. I’m happy to report that we got married last month.”

Your positive beginning

It’s time to stop the bickering and start moving forward.

You love each other, or you used to, and you want that back. Or you’re carrying something on your own that has gone on long enough. Either way, you don’t need a therapist who nods quietly for six months.

Cindy will help you understand what’s really happening, give you tools that work at home, and tell you honestly how it’s going. Day, evening and weekend appointments are available, and for people in crisis she does her best to find a time within 48 hours.

Call or send a request to get started.

Frequently Asked Questions

My partner and I are having problems. Should we be in individual counseling or come together?

If you’re concerned about your relationship and you would both like to work with me, I start with both of you together. Afterward, if one of you would like to continue in individual sessions, I can work with just one of you. It isn’t helpful to move from individual work into couples work with the same therapist, because it can create trust issues for the partner who joins later.

Does Cindy only see couples?

No. Couples and marriage therapy is Cindy’s specialty, but she also sees adults individually for anxiety, depression, stress, anger, self-esteem, grief and life transitions, and works with parents and blended families.

When are appointments available?

Day and evening appointments are available, and weekend times can be arranged by request. For individuals or couples in crisis, I do my best to find an appointment within 48 hours, schedule permitting.

How much does therapy cost?

You can pay session by session (a longer first visit, then 60-minute sessions) or choose a couples package. Call (402) 306-4842 for current fees, and Cindy will explain everything up front so there are no surprises.

I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?

Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the ability to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. You already have strengths you’ve used before; for whatever reason they aren’t working right now. Maybe the problem feels so overwhelming that it’s hard to reach them. In our work together, I’ll help you identify what those strengths are and how to use them again in what’s happening now.
