Couples & Family Counseling for Papillion and La Vista

From Papillion or La Vista, my West Omaha office is about 14 to 16 minutes north, just off West Center Road at 123rd Street. I work with couples, individual adults and families, and I’ve been doing it for nearly three decades. If you want a therapist who’s direct, practical and occasionally funny, the short drive is worth it.

Papillion and La Vista have plenty of family life to offer, from summer concerts at Sumtur Amphitheater to Storm Chasers games at Werner Park and the shops at La Vista City Centre. That’s a lot of family life to manage, especially if you’re blending two households. Step-family and blended family counseling helps the adults get on the same page first, so the kids aren’t stuck refereeing.

If you’re co-parenting after a divorce, trading kids in a parking lot halfway between two homes, you already know how tense a five-minute handoff can be. Divorce recovery and co-parenting counseling helps you focus on what you can control and stop re-fighting the marriage every other Friday.

Sometimes the problem is the fuse. If you’ve been snapping at your kids after a long shift, or saying things to your partner you regret ten minutes later, anger and temper control work gives you practical ways to cool down before the damage is done.

The ride up 84th Street or I-680 turns out to be a decent buffer. You get a few minutes to collect your thoughts on the way in, and a few more to decompress on the way home before walking back into the chaos. Moms of little ones might also like The Mommy’s, my monthly Thursday-morning group for moms of kids under five, where nobody judges the cereal on your sleeve.
