My Theoretical Approach is grounded upon humanistic and transpersonal psychology. This means viewing individuals from a relationship perspective and holding the relationship between client and therapist as the central catalyst for personal change and transcendence. I also incorporate other disciplines and approaches into my work with clients. Some of these disciplines include positive psychology, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral & emotionally focused theory, and the principles of the Gottman method.
Therapy is alot like taking a class about yourself. You’ll learn better ways to solve problems, gain new perspectives, build confidence, and feel emotionally stronger. We will talk about you, your life, and your concerns.
Your therapy will be based upon your own concerns and I will tailor my approach based upon your own individual needs. No “cookie-cutter” therapist and plenty of constructive feedback so you can begin implementing the change you desire. As a therapist with years of experience, I believe that good therapy is based upon integrity, training, education, talent, and compassion.
I will provide you with a safe, open, and calming atmosphere to discuss the issues that trouble you or your relationship. My style is relaxed, straightforward, honest and down to earth, and always with compassion and empathy. It’s my job to make you feel comfortable and safe so that we can resolve the issues that brought you to therapy. Instead of sitting back quietly, I engage with you to help create movement and change towards the positive outcome you want. You’ll find my style professional yet infused with a light dose of humor.
